Lost and Alone

Born to the Tumet tribe on the Azim Steppe, Arsi wasn't given a name until he earned it on his tenth summer. Like all Tumet children before him, he went through the rite, his parents tying him to the sacred tree with the other child born his same year, another boy. The other boy managed to break free before Arsi did, though it worked against him as a roving band of Buduga snagged the child before he could remember the way to their tribe. Arsi had just gotten free and took refuge beneath rock to hide from the hunting party, watching in fear as his tribesmate was stolen away from him. He shook his head, stifling the tears, and waited until he could no longer hear any of the Buduga, and then a time longer, curled up against the cold that settled over him. When he was certain that he was safe, the boy crawled out of his hiding place and tried to find his way. But it was dark and he was cold, and the tribe would only wait a week before continuing on. Arsi could do little more than stumble blindly in what he hoped was the right direction.Morning came and he found himself in an unfamiliar place, but the child refused to stop. “A child of the Tumet will always find their way home,” he'd mutter to himself over and over again. During the hottest part of the day, Arsi fell asleep, hidden again beneath a stone to protect himself from Buduga and Oronir and the other monsters. And then his trip continued. Eventually, he finds the signs he was taught to look for, the passing of boots and sandals and animal's hooves. It was going in the direction he knew his tribe to travel. He follows it, hoping for the best, and even so, it takes him many more days. And then, on the final day, he finds them, stumbling exhausted and bruised into the Iloh. His father is the first to notice, having traded off with his mother in their vigil to see their child return, and takes the child in his arms, whispering a name against his horns as Arsi lost consciousness.A few years pass, leaving Arsi a young adult at sixteen summers. Taught by his mother, Arsi had grown into a decent hunter, though his real skill shown brightly as his father introduced him to conjury and the art and practice of healing. His sister was born that autumn. And like Arsi before her, she wasn't given a name on her birth, just the newest little Tumet to the tribe. That same year, a number of brash Tumet teens, Arsi included, braved Bardam's mettle, though Arsi was the only one to successfully complete the challenges and tame a Yol. The others returned with him, each somewhere proud that a member of their tribe had managed the feat, and jealous that they were not the one to have pulled it off.But the next winter, the tribe was attacked by Garleans. Arsi had been attempting to help his father and several of the Tumet's hunters to distract them so they could pack up and move on, away from the soldiers. In the chaos, Arsi lost sight of his father, and was quickly subdued by the Garleans, taken into custody due to his strong back and young age. He was shoved along with a number of other Xaela, brought to a Castrum in Doma, though Arsi couldn't tell you which one. The young Tumet waited, biding his time, until the patrols were lax or late, until something gave and an opportunity presented itself. He ran, as fast as he could, as far as he could, eventually finding himself on the edge of the Ruby Sea. Still trying to escape, still trying to hide, Arsi took refuge on a ship and stowed away, unaware of where he'd be going or when he'd get there. He was found out halfway through the trip. But it was a merchant ship, not a pirate's vessel or a warship, and in exchange for his continued safety on their current voyage, he was instructed to help with any tasks he was given on board. They made port in some town that he didn't know the name of, and one of the merchants from the ship offered to pay him if he continued along to help with the loading and unloading of cargo to the cart. Arsi agrees, desperately in need of coin now that he was in an unfamiliar place. The trip was mostly uneventful as they made their way, the merchant teaching Arsi a great deal about Eorzea and their destination, Gridania, in particular. Once he arrived, the Tumet was quickly introduced to the Conjurer's guild, who quickly recognized the staff on his back. That's where he studied for a number of years, the Conjurer's Guild picking up where his father's instruction had left off. Unfortunately, Arsi had a tendency to wander off randomly, the intense wanderlust felt by all Tumet pulling at his heart, leaving E-Sumi-Yan exasperated on more than one occasion. Eventually, the Guild sent Arsi out on his way, acting as an ambassador of sorts for them as he traveled the woods and deserts and beaches to other city states. During his travels, Arsi picked up a few other jobs and hobbies, training more with salves and poisons in Ul Dah, and leaning the art of cooking in Limsa Lominsa, among other things. He still prefers to use his conjury and alchemy to help the people he can, but he's recently taken to dancing, wanting to see the relaxed and happy smiles of those who watch him.

Pastels and petals

Arsi is quite short for an Auri man, standing only at 6'. His pale complexion contrasts nicely with his scales, and pale pink limbal rings really make his eyes seem to glow, and his long hair hangs to his waist, usually tied up or braided. A generally small and light man - at least when compared to others of his race - Arsi takes enjoyment in garments colored in lotus pink, finding that it suits and evokes the softness of his demeanor, though he usually couples it with mildly revealing clothing, preferring to show off his midriff or thighs, and particularly when he's readying to dance.Easily flustered and soft, Arsi has a hard time being forward or initiating an interaction. Once you get him talking, however, he enjoys conversation and compliments, both giving and receiving. The latter might have him blushing by the end of the conversation, though that's not necessarily a bad thing in his mind. If you happen to catch him when the mood is right, he can be forward and confident, but those moments are few and far between. And usually reserved for his partners.Arsi is kind, disliking conflict and fights. He's always willing to help out most anyone, whether to heal their wounds, mix something to help with their sleep, or simply offering a spot of food to fill their bellies. This can lead him to being taken advantage of or tricked, which happens far more often than he would like to admit. The one exception to his softness is his friendships. While he'd much prefer to sit and talk with someone rather than throwing fists, that doesn't stop him from using his imposing height and piercing gaze when his friends are being threatened. There's a sharpness about him when it comes to his friends and family, ready to fight for their safety and happiness. As long as his friends survive, he cares not the cost to himself. And he especially cares little for the cost to their enemies.

Romantic relationships

Kirashi Buduga

A DJ by trade, this former member of the Qalli is Arsi's fun-loving, musically and magiteknically inclined boyfriend. They spend much of their free time together, checking out new venues, new clubs, and beautiful places to be found in Eorzea and beyond.

Platonic relationships

Kailana Tilek

Usk's sister, whom he met at a different time, and probably one of Arsi's closer friends. Arsi feeds her sweets often, and is teaching her to make them as well, and she's the crazy wine aunt who occassionally lives in his tea house now.

Usk Tilek

An Auri-looking man, who isn't quite what he seems, and close friend of Arsi's. Arsi looks to him for comfort and companionship, often sneaking him bits of cooked meat when his sister isn't looking.

The night life

Arsi works at a few establishments, as well as also taking some part time jobs for a little extra gil. Between dancing, cooking, alchemy, and keeping up with his free company, he's got a pretty full plate, though he still enjoys taking the time - when he can get it - to get to know new people and hang out with old friends. When he's not working, Arsi can often be found in the Quicksand spending time around his free company, hanging out at Prophet Lounge to enjoy the atmosphere, at his tea house, the Sultana's Respite, or back at his apartment, though that last one is often with Kirashi.

facts

  • He completed his coming of age trial successfully, earning his place in the Tumet Tribe, as well as the name Arsi.

  • Arsi is bi, with an interest in both men and nonbinary folks, though he has a strong preference towards men and those with a more masc appearance. He's not attracted to women.

  • In this same vein, he is a bottom and a submissive (specifically, he's a pet), but those he'll let take advantage of that part of his personality may have to work for it.

  • Arsi is polyamorous, and he makes sure his partners are aware of that fact once things start to change from something casual into something potentially stronger or more serious.

  • He has nightmares. They are particularly bad when he sleeps alone, leading Arsi to often seek out comfort beside someone else.

hooks

Like what you see, but looking for a way to interact? More hooks being added all the time.Arsi hails from the Azim Steppe, born into the Tumet tribe. There was a week where he was missing around the age of ten during his coming of age ceremony, nearly unable to make it back to his tribe before they moved on. He's always pleased to see other Xaela, and Tumet especially, so he can check in on his family and how they're doing while he's been gone.A product of his Tumet blood, Arsi has an incurable wanderlust. He can only remain in one place for so long, before he simply needs to wander, moving on with the intent of circling back around at some point. He can put it off for a little while when he's surrounded by those he loves or enjoys spending time around, or if he finds a hobby that he wishes to take the time to learn. Currently, he calls Ul Dah his home, though he continues to wander through the city states, enjoying the sights and sounds that they offer. The first place that Arsi landed after his misadventures on the boat was Limsa Lominsa, though he quickly was spirited away to Gridania, where he spent a great deal of time learning conjury. When he started traveling again, Arsi takes up learning Alchemy in Ul Dah and the Culinary arts in Limsa Lominsa. It was both as a fun hobby, as well as a livelihood to help support him as he travels and tries to find his place in the world. He someday wants to return to the Steppes and to his family, to find his Tribe again before his sister goes through her trial, so he can either say goodbye one last time or welcome her and grant her a name. To that end, he's been saving up money to help him make it to Kugane, to the Ruby Sea and Yanxia, and eventually back to the Steppes that he called home. Unfortunately.... he harbors a lot of anxiety about returning, and that's stalled him longer than he should have allowed.
